What an amazing MagicFest at Edinburgh International Magic Festival 2016!
This was the 7th year of the festival and it is fair to say that it was the best yet. As a magician, it is always a great honour to be part of Scotlands biggest magic festival.
This was a new concept for #MagicFest and it was like a theme-park experience for magic… A pass gave you access to 8 shows (20 mins each) with world class magicians performing illusions, hilarious comedy conjuring and freaky mindreading. Throw into the mix some hip street food vendors, multiple bars, close-up magic and music to make this a mind blowing experience for all that came along.
I performed my stage show Aye Spy for all the MagicFair sessions. The family friendly version for the days and then back to being a bit more of the risqué variety for the lates! With awesome audiences of all ages, wonderful volunteers and superb staff, this made for a totally magical and memorable weekend for everybody involved.
In the build up to #MagicFest, I performed close-up magic for the principle sponsors: Krispy Kreme at their Edinburgh and Glasgow stores. Had my picture in The Herald (trying not to burn anyone!) and was invited to be a special guest for Magic School and work with the young wizards.
On Friday 8th of July, the Festival came to an end with a full house at the Festival Theatre for a breath-taking mix of world champion illusionists, mind reading and confounding variety from around the world.
The ‘Great Lafayette’ prize was presented to Juan Tamariz and the festival finished with “Grand Prix World Champion” Hector Mancha kicking ass as the ‘Miser!
Congratulations to everyone that made this one magical festival. Bring on MagicFest 2017
